Well, my cringeometer has just gone through the roof.

That wasn't a good advert for the con theo / alternative view by any means.

I've previously always admired Alex Jones despite some commentators accusing him of being an asset of the PTB.

If one were cynical one could argue that he might be controlled opposition in an attempt to discredit the whole conspiracy argument. I don't think we can even blame selective editing here.

Anyone new to the genre tuning into that car crash would have run a mile.

Must confess I loved every second of this enconter-reminded me why I first started following Jones from his early Talk Radio/Sport appearaces to the present day.Not sure that Morgan was quite expecting that and for once he had the smarmy grin wiped off his smug face.As I said what did anyone expect of Alex-he just acted in exactly the same way he has been for last couple of decades, though as Jones meltdowns go it probably only made it to about one and a half. And the reaction was of course incredible.Morgan spent the the entire week discussing it including a surreal exchange in which guests fanasised about the host "popping" his nemisis with an assalt rifle.

Jones has well and truely announced himself to mainstream America upping his profile significantly in the UK as well who covered it extensively. At the risk of sounding sycophantic Alex is one of the most compelling speakers around-he has more charisma in his fingernail than Morgan or a dozen of these media lackeys. As he said he has resisted numerous big money offers to go mainstream and tone down the conspiracy rhetoric. Many will have been introduced to him for the first time in that interview and will be hungry for more-those turned off by the bombast are probably beyond help at this point.

Inevitably some will see this as a set up to discredit what has become known as the truth movement. On the latest Rich Hall show Neil Sanders claimed(in a interview recorded weeks ago)that CNN has been long been used for psycological operations on the public. As always anything that makes it out of the mainstream media must be treated with caution.

I have to go along with cass on this one. That was not a good advert for the Truthers. He appeared to be playing up to the old stereotypes that Americans probably conjure up when they think of people who want to 'save the gun.' It's one thing getting annoyed and angry, but the threats of fisticuffs, the Southern drawl in his accent... Mmmmm. There was also a tinge of racism in there - not a surprise perhaps for anyone who's heard his shows when he approaches the subject of US borders.

We've approached the subject of AJ in other threads before.

As far as I'm concerned - I'm still on the fence. It's true - he doesn't mention Zionism on his show - he even once suggested that it was the Muslims - not the Jews - who controlled the media and Hollywood (WTF???!!!). And now, his radio-show is on TV and it's slick and shiny. Just how can someone who's such a supposed threat to the PTB be allowed to get away with this?

As Judex points out, CNN have been caught out more than a few times for their links to the CIA, and their habit of making up stories that don't actually exist. Would they really allow a 'Truther' mass airtime - an audience of billions? ... Would they really?
I think we have to seriously consider the possibility that this exchange was yet another false piece of theatre with the aim of making the Truthers look like a bunch of loony, loud nutters. I saw an old episode of 'Frasier' the other week which featured a load of anti-NWO types who befriended Niles (one of the main characters). When he found out what and who they really were he ran a mile - and oh - didn't the audience laugh? Of course, they were made to look like complete nutters, but, most telling of all (in hindsight), was the fact that Alex Jones was playing that part - to a tee - on CNN with Piers.

By the way, Judex. I saw that Neil Sanders interview as well (as usual - a great guest). Apparently, Rich D. Hall is planning a future episode all about CIA plants within the Troof movement. Could be interesting.

As for AJ?

I for one remain cautious.

Hi Angryhead-It's true that a cloud of suspicion must hang over it.CNN had no need to offer Alex Jones a platform. There was no clamour to get him on so it's legitimate to ask why they did, giving him a publicity windfall he could only have dreamed of.Quite a way for him to start 2013.On the other hand Jones may have played CNN by getting on the show to unload both barrels-clearly he had a checklist of topics such as anti-depressants,building 7 etc that he wanted to mention. It may simply have been an inspired publicity stunt on his part.Would he have trended at the top on Twitter for 24hrs or picked up 5 million views in a matter of days had he behaved in a polite, respectful fashion? While some will have seen a raving mad man others could interpret it as someone exhibiting a bit of long overdue passion.

Sander's also talked of intelligence assets in the media-Piers Morgan must be a prime candidate. After the fiasco when he was sacked by the Mirror for printing the fake torture pictures his career has gone stratospheric with a host of plum TV jobs. How could Morgan fall for these pictures that anyone could tell had been staged. This from a man who's brother is a Major in the British army in Iraq and Afghanistan. As for agents in the truth movement-should be interesting though Rich seems to suspect anyone who doesn't subscribe to the theories of Judy Wood as being disinfo.

MMmmm. 9/11.

Anyone suspicious of Jones's ranting appearance on CNN might argue that his references to WTC7 and prescription drugs was 'designed' to discredit both 'conspiracies'? The WTC7 angle is perhaps the one aspect of 9/11 that the mainstream might accept has 'suspicious overtones' to it, but now, Alex Jones has potentially discredited it with his overheated diatribe?

As for Piers Morgan? An odious, fat tick.

Jones profile continues to rise this week with an appearance on the legendary Howard Stern radio show.Stern and his longtime sidekick had previously discussed the Morgan interview on their show which they found highly entertaining leading to the invite.Stern claimed this was the first time he'd been introduced to Jones and the hour long interview was highly convivial.Stern seemed fascinated by Alex quizzing him at great lenghts about his lifestyle and views-gently ribbing him on his more outrageous claims.Jones for his part was doing his best to present a charming, humourous persona as befitting the tone of the show with the broadcast coming across more in the entertainment brackett.

There is no doubt that AJ is becoming ever more familiar to mainstream America. This began with the attention which the Charlie Sheen meltdown on his show gave him leading to an invite to one of America's biggest TV programmes "The View".The Morgan interview followed at the start of the year and now the Stern show will have led to even more exposure.

On Stern Jones revealed that he was ill before the Morgan interview and in a foul mood which played a part in his abrasive performance. He added that his consequent claims of being stalked by NY cops for assassination were also due to being under the weather. This got alot of attention and would have cemented the perception that he was a paranoid looney among many in the general public. This sequence of events may point to him having been "got at" in some way. One might also claim the rise in his profile is being carefully stage managed in some way-with or without his knowledge.

The latest high profile figure to namecheck Jones is-somewhat bizarrely-Black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan.Even more of a controversy magnet than AJ this week he praised him for the stance taken on the Morgan show.

His show seems to be getting more high profile guests lately such underground rapper Immortal Technique-a true maverick among the mainstream rap dross.

Regarding Piers Morgan and his remarklable career revival-in a recent interview he put it down to two factors, the bbc and Simon Cowell. After his sacking by the Mirror the bbc decided to capatalise on his notoriety and offered him a programme called "Tabloid Tales" in which he interviewed controversial figures in the media. After being impressed by his performance Cowell approached Morgan for a role on "America's Got Talent" launching him into televisions big league and a host of plum jobs.
